Kevin Mitchell`s tendinitis-ridden left knee has become enough of an ongoing problem that the San Francisco Giants outfielder will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination Friday in Palo Alto, Calif.
Mitchell, who has started all but three games since developing the problem more than a month ago, has trouble bending the knee, thus interfering with his running and sliding.

”They say there might be a cyst back there,” Mitchell said. ”There`s a knot there I can feel behind my knee, and I can`t bend it much. That`s why you haven`t seen me sliding.”
The MRI, a sophisticated form of internal photography, is not expected to show anything serious, although the Giants are speaking in cautious terms about it.
