Ara Parseghian is retiring-again. The former Notre Dame and Northwestern football coach told CBS Thursday he no longer would be an in-studio analyst.
A CBS official said Parseghian, 66, ”was tired of the travel.” He still lives in South Bend, Ind.
Parseghian became a commentator for ABC after he retired from coaching after the 1974 season.
”Ara has been with us since 1982, when we first began broadcasting college football,” said CBS President Neal Pilson. ”He brought our coverage instant credibility and strength.”
”Since he was a college player, Ara has had little time to enjoy fall afternoons. He has indicated he now wants to take advantage of those opportunities.”
