Widely recognized for his portraits and fashion photography, Victor Skrebneski reveals two of his favorite subjects-the city of Paris and the human figure-in an exhibition opening next weekend that initiates the new Gallery of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbus Drive and Jackson Boulevard.

Titled ”Skrebneski,” the exhibit consists of 25 black-and-white prints being shown publicly for the first time.

The Eiffel Tower ”has been a special love of mine since I first went to Paris,” he says. Anthony Jones, president of the Art Institute`s School, notes, however, that Skrebneski does not see the tower ”as a massive metal spear, but instead as a dematerialized shimmering form that flickers and radiates . . . . (It) is transformed into a weightless floaty glowing symbol of the artist`s vision of the City of Light.”

The exhibit opens with a black-tie preview Friday. Starting Saturday, it will run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through Aug. 11. –
