Willowbrook`s Sean Henderson, one of the top all-around gymnasts in the state, will miss the rest of the season with a fractured right hand.
He was injured last Friday at the Lake Park Invitational.
”He`ll be in a cast for a month,” said Willowbrook Athletic Director Clint Evans. ”It`s a shame. We went from being a contender to a noncontender because of this.
”Sean is taking it well. He`s already talking about next year and national competition.”
Said Willowbrook coach Joe Scahill: ”Sean still has a good future in gymnastics, and he knows it.
”He got a scholarship from Illinois, and I asked him if he thought he could break into a team that just won the national championship, and he said he expects to. He thinks he can work for them as a freshman.”
Henderson`s absence leaves Mundelein`s T.J. Dortch and Jay Eller of Naperville North as the top contenders for the state all-around championship.
