player ready...Wade Boggs and Margo Adams are together again, but it`s not what you might think.
As part of a sports memorabilia auction in Sports Collectors Digest, Rod Heffern of The Baseball Card Store in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has an ”Unusual Items” category. The first item is a baseball signed by Boggs and Adams, the woman suing the Red Sox star with whom she had an extramarital affair.
It isn`t hard to figure which signature Heffern gathered first.
”I had balls already autographed by Boggs,” said Heffern. ”I`m sure you couldn`t actually go up to him and get his autograph on something Margo already signed. Anyway, a friend of mine has a talk show in Ft. Lauderdale, and he invited me to ask some questions. I figured I`d try to get her to sign the balls. I expected a bimbo, but I got a real firecat.”
Heffern also got four balls signed by Adams.
”She didn`t have a problem signing the balls at all,” said Heffern.
”But she wouldn`t sign his baseball cards. She said they meant too much to him.”
Item No. 2 is an 8 x 10 color photo of Steve Garvey.
”She signed it, `Me and baby makes three,` ” said Heffern. ”She has a great sense of humor, and she`s a warm person.”
