After Dave Hiemer crossed the plate in the first inning of Andrew`s game Thursday at Hillcrest, one of the many scouts assembled made a simple comment: ”That`s all the runs they`re going to need.”

Indeed, with Jason Zimbauer pitching, that was all second-ranked Andrew

(9-1) needed. The Thunderbolts knocked off Hillcrest 2-0 with Zimbauer, a player many of the 40 or so scouts came to see, pitching a five-hitter.

The other hot prospect was Jason Robertson of Hillcrest (6-1). On this day, he took the mound rather than play his preferred center field and allowed four hits and with 10 strikeouts. But he was 0-for-1 at the plate with three walks.

”I knew he wasn`t going to give me anything to hit and I felt the same way about it when he was up,” Robertson said. ”I thought it might be a matter of who walked the most. I had an `on` day on the mound, but I had it against Zimbauer.”

For his part Zimbauer (5-0) wasn`t on. He registered nine strikeouts but equalled his season total of six walks.

”I was a little tired today,” said Zimbauer, whose fastball was clocked at around 85 miles an hour. ”I just couldn`t throw a strike with all the wind and everything. But I still got the pitches I wanted.”
