In 1982, WMAQ-Ch. 5`s Carol Marin presented ”For Beauty Passed Away,” a poignant documentary about the impact that the loss of physical beauty can have on a person. It was a touching look at eight people who were victims of accidents that made them physically disfigured. At 6:30 p.m. Thursday on Channel 5, Marin makes a follow-up visit to three people–all burn victims

–from her award-winning `82 program.

In ”For Beauty Passed Away: A Continuation,” she talks to Gertrude Miller, a 59-year-old north suburbanite; Johnny McQueen, a 30-year-old Near West Side teaching coach; and Joel Sonnenberg, an 8-year-old now living near Detroit.

Marin says the three have made incredible progress in the four years since she last visited them. But, she says, ”Their scars will never be fixed. What`s happened is their social courage has grown,” helped by their own inner strengths and the support of their families and friends.
