Ever wonder what happens to all the hats that get thrown on the Stadium ice after a Hawk scores three goals? The Hawks were wondering the same thing after Denis Savard`s latest hat trick Sunday.
”Usually, they`re all scooped up and brought down to the locker room for the players to look at,” said trainer Skip Thayer. ”Then, if someone sees one he likes, he takes it home. I know I got a nice one that way once.”
But the hats apparently never made it to the locker room Sunday night, despite several dozen that were scooped up by Stadium employees. ”Maybe they just got thrown away,” said Thayer.
