Ricardo Bofill, the wildest Spanish architect since Antonio Gaudi, is a Postmodernist best known for his huge concrete housing complexes in France. This handsomely turned-out book gives a fine pictorial overview of his work, wherein he combines historically inspired and other elements in variously dramatic and hulking styles that are singularly his own. Futagawa`s monochromatic and color photographs are up to their usual level of excellence. Unfortunately, an introductory essay by Christian Norberg-Schulz is gauzy and weak.
