If you saw ”Amadeus,” the Academy Award-winning movie, you saw Hollywood`s version of how Antonio Salieri was obsessed with his rival court composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. But, you learned little about Salieri`s music because the movie focused more on Mozart`s music than Salieri`s. Now a two-hour ”Great Performances” program features the works of both 18th-Century composers.

”Live From Lincoln Center: Mostly Mozart Meets Salieri” at 8 p.m. Wednesday on WTTW-Ch. 11 opens with two overtures: Salieri`s ”Prima la musica e poi le parole” (”First the music, then the words”) and Mozart`s ”Der Schauspieldirektor.” Next, ”Non temer,” an aria from Salieri`s opera, ”La fiera de Venezia,” and Mozart`s concert aria, ”Voi avete un cor fedele.”

Concluding the program are the final movement of Salieri`s Concerto in C Major for Flute and Oboe and Mozart`s complete Piano concerto No. 24 in C minor, K. 491.

The evening`s selections are from the ”Mostly Mozart Festival” at New York`s Lincoln Center. The program will be broadcast in TV stereo and simulcast on WFMT, FM 98.7.
