According to a documentary, ”Battered Wives, Shattered Lives,” more than 1.8 million women are victims of wife beating with about 40 percent of serious injuries treated in a hospital emergency room related to the crime. The FBI says that across the U.S. a case of wife abuse occurs every 18 seconds.
