Sleuthing is in this year on TV. Last fall, Angela Lansbury debuted in
”Murder, She Wrote.” A few months ago, Jack Warden and John Rubenstein arrived in ”Crazy Like a Fox.” At 7 p.m. on CBS-Ch. 2, Judd Hirsch will become the latest sleuth in a new comedy series called ”Detective in the House.” He stars as Press Wyman, a happily married father of three who chucks his well-paying engineering job to pursue his fantasy as a detective.
Cassie Yates plays his wife, Diane, who pays the bills by returning to work as a schoolteacher while her husband does double duty as investigator and househusband. The children–ages 8, 14 and 16–periodically help with their father`s cases as well as house chores.
Jack Elam, known for his bad-guy roles in westerns, plays Nick Turner, a cranky, retired private eye who teaches Wyman how to be a detective.
