Michael Landon, who plays angel Jonathan Smith on ”Highway to Heaven”
at 7 p.m. on NBC-Ch. 5, takes a clue from his saintly TV duties and does his own kind of a good deed in Wednesday`s show. The episode concerns a romance between a quadriplegic man and an able-bodied woman. It`s based on a semiautobiographical story by James Troesh, a wheelchair-bound actor-writer who fell in love and married a woman with no physical handicaps. Troesh talked Landon into developing the story for television.
Troesh came to the attention of Landon after appearing in an earlier episode of ”Highway.”
The actor is grateful that Landon took a chance on him for the show.
”Producers and agents worry about our health holding up and our lack of mobility,” Troesh says. ”They feel uncomfortable around us.”
