Niles police said the department was the recipient of several unfounded bomb threats over the weekend, and all were found not to be legitimate.
In a statement on Monday, police said they received the threats from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 through online portals and over the phone.
Niles Police Sergeant Dan Borkowski told Pioneer Press that four threats were sent through the Village of Niles’ online service request portal called”SeeClickFix” on Sept. 29 around 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. He said on Oct. 1, the department received four phone calls to the dispatch center around 10:15 p.m.
“It is believed there is no legitimate threat to the general public at this time regarding these incidents,” the statement said.
