
The baiduhai Media Group’s Libertyville Review reports: Trustees voted unanimously Dec. 9 to uphold Libertyville’s video gambling ban — despite a push to lift the prohibition from at least one local restaurant owner and a video gambling machine operator.
Village board members primarily cited their lack of faith in Illinois’ ability to regulate the industry, and their desire to maintain Libertyville’s image as family friendly.
“We did our best to hear as many residents and members of our business community as possible,” Trustee Donna Johnson said. “Mr. Downing [owner of Downing Tavern] and a woman who’s a realtor spoke very passionately in favor of video gaming, but the room was deafly silent after that.”
