In the fourth fire to strike since late January, a fourth floor unit in a Washington Street apartment building sustained water and smoke damage.

The fire began around 4 p.m. Monday Feb. 13 and firefighters with the Evanston Fire Department were able to contain the damage to the unit of origin. Flames were put out within 20 minutes.

Residents evacuated before firefighters arrived and one was transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

No firefighters were reported injured.

Three other fires have occurred in the city since Jan. 25 where a fire on Emerson Street displaced six residents. A fire on Feb. 3 at 4 Suns Fresh Juice and another last week on Feb. 9 displaced 13 residents and killed two pets in a Judson Avenue apartment building.
