A coffee house that transforms into a wine bar? Baristas that serve coffee and cocktails? This European cafe model is what inspired owners of Evanston Pour.

Evanston Pour is an all-day cafe, that transforms from coffee house to wine bar, a space where friends can connect over espresso or prosecco, and everything in between.

“We just love Evanston,” say co-owners, partners and Evanston residents, Jen and John Stumbaugh, “we love its urban inclusivity and eclectic charm, and an all-day cafe just hit the sweet spot for community connection,” they said.

“We wanted to create a swanky, luxurious, place with approachable elegance, where our branding was not just associated with coffee,” co-owner John Stumbaugh said.

Evanston Pour opened its doors on the Main-Dempster Mile in late Feb., but celebrated with an official grand opening, ribbon-cutting, event on July 30.

Candace Griffin of Evanston says she has frequented Evanston Pour many times before, and sees it as a hybrid of a coffee shop, not really based on an American concept.

The website describes a spot to grab a daily latte and scone, to choose from a menu of small bites and fresh pastries, or linger over a shared Charcuterie board and a bottle of wine — all menu offerings are paired with locally sourced coffee, tea, beer and wine selections.

Art by local artists adorns the walls of Evanston Pour, rotated each month or so, via a partnership with Evanston Made.

Stumbaugh says they have tentative plans to also feature live music and plan to offer private party rentals.

Evanston resident, Renee Hoff, says that at Pour’s location at 528 Dempster, St., there used to be a Starbucks.

“Evanston has coffee shops on every corner, but Evanston Pour serves the best cappuccino in town,” Hoff said. “I like the cozy atmosphere, the friendly vibe I get from the staff, and the fact that they are open late.”

New hours just posted are Monday through Fridays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Isabella Kennett and her husband Conor, stopped into Evanston Pour for lunch while in town visiting friends.

Kennett says her hobby is exploring coffee shops whenever she travels.

“Evanston Pour is open and welcoming, I would gladly settle in here with coffee and a project, grab a solo meal, or come for a special date,” Kennett said.

Versatility, that’s where our name comes from, Stumbaugh says.

“At Evanston Pour, we pour it all,” Stumbaugh said.
