Will County Sheriff’s investigators said Wednesday they were holding a person of interest in connection with the Tuesday shooting death of Patrick Taylor, a 39-year-old from Lockport. Investigators also seized a red Ford conversion van they believe was used in the shooting, according to a news release.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Oak Avenue, west of Brassel Street, in Lockport Township about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, and began life saving measures on Taylor, who had been shot multiple times, according to the news release. Taylor was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Several witnesses reported Taylor was walking down the street when someone driving in a red van fired the shots, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact detective Chris DeMato at 815-727-8574, Ext. 4912. Anonymous tips also may be submitted to www.willcosheriff.org/enforcement/submit-a-crime-tip.
