He spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders as tight ends coach in 2021 and as an offensive quality control coach in 2020. The former center, who was a four-year starter at Northwestern, played 34 games in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-06. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Toledo, Syracuse and Dayton. The Cincinnati native was Dayton's offensive coordinator for three seasons.

He had 56 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns in 94 games, including 38 starts, for the Cardinals, Browns, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.

He went to Mississippi State for one season in 2018 as offensive coordinator before returning to the Packers as part of LaFleur's staff.

He also coached at Bethel (Tenn.), Jacksonville University, Florida and Valdosta State.

A day after promoting Sean Desai to defensive coordinator, the Chicago Bears have a new opening on coach Matt Nagy’s staff.
Outside linebackers coach Ted Monachino is not expected to return. Monachino was with the Bears for the last two seasons, arriving in 2019 with defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano.
The Bears need to hire a defensive line coach — Jay Rodgers left for a job with the Los Angeles Chargers — and presumably will fill Monachino’s role as well as the position Desai held as safeties coach. The Bears could replace Desai, who was promoted Saturday, with an assistant defensive backs coach.
It’s possible the team could promote Bill Shuey, who held the title of pass rush analyst/assistant linebackers this season.
The Bears were pursuing James Bettcher, who interviewed for the defensive coordinator role, but the San Francisco 49ers hired him. It’s not known if Bettcher would have been offered a role as a senior defensive assistant or as a position coach, but he’s no longer in play.
Other coaches who have departed are passing game coordinator Dave Ragone and running backs coach Charles London.
