The Chicago Bears reinstated nose tackle Eddie Goldman from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.

Goldman tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 3 and spent 10 days away from the team. He opted out of the 2020 season because he was high risk for COVID-19.

The Bears were off Friday and play host to the Miami Dolphins at noon Saturday at Soldier Field in their first preseason game. With his return from the list, Goldman would be eligible to play, but there’s a possibility coach Matt Nagy might hold him out until Monday’s practice because he has been away from the team for more than a week.

Goldman was one of four players to go on the list when the Bears practiced during Family Fest at Soldier Field.

The Bears reinstated inside linebacker Christian Jones, offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson and long snapper Patrick Scales on Monday. Jones and Wilkinson said they were pulled off the team bus before Family Fest to let them know they were deemed close contacts to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

NFL rules are much stricter for unvaccinated players and require daily testing and mask wearing and a 10-day quarantine for players who test positive and are asymptomatic. Unvaccinated players who are deemed high-risk close contacts to a positive individual must miss five days.

“Once they came to the bus, you kind of knew what it was, but you’re kind of hoping that’s not what it is,” Jones said. “We just had to wait it out. The guys who were out, we’re just glad to be back in the building with everyone. Five days is a lot to miss during training camp, so we were anxious to get back out here to be around the guys and just learn more.”

The Bears also waived wide receiver Thomas Ives, who has been out of practices with a glute injury.
