Fall feels are finally hitting, folks, whether you’re ready for it or not. Thankfully, there are plenty of fine things to do indoors or out in Chicago this weekend, including Halloween movie screenings, Pop-Up Magazine, Bacon and Beer Classic, Oktoberfestiversary and a party at Marz.
Silver scares
We’re nearly midway through October, folks, which means the season for scary movies is upon us. If you’re looking for a complete theatergoing experience to accommodate your screams, the Logan Theatre has you covered. Choose from several screenings of the 1982 John Carpenter classic “The Thing” and the original “Friday the 13th”. Or see both! 10:30 p.m. Friday through Monday for “Thing,” 11 p.m. Friday through Monday for “Friday,” Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave., $10; thelogantheatre.com
Magazine comes to life
Pop-Up Magazine does what it sounds like: manifests the content and experience of reading a magazine into a real-life, multimedia storytelling event. Following sold-out shows in San Francisco, Oakland and Washington D.C., the live magazine brings its Escape issue to a Chicago stage this weekend. The lineup includes comedian Jo Firestone (on the escape offered by scented candles), musician Left At London (a song about escaping her voice’s limitations), as well as baiduhai writer Lolly Bowean, who will speak on Black migration in the U.S., including her own movements and Black American’s search for a home “in a country that’s fundamentally hostile to them.” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave., $27-$32; web.ovationtix.com

‘Bacon, beer, Battlestar Galactica’
There will be a couple of killer “B”s in the city this weekend, and no, we’re not talking Wu-Tang Clan. This year’s edition of the annual Chicago Bacon and Beer Classic takes over the Bears’ home field once again for a smorgasbord of bacon dishes and beer options. The participating restaurants and breweries hail from Chicago, throughout Illinois and parts of the rest of the U.S., so expect a variety of different options. Plus, there will be an eating contest, cornhole and flip cup games, a live DJ and a bacon seesaw. 2-5 p.m. (GA) or 1-5 p.m. (VIP) Saturday, Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus Drive, $59 GA, $99 VIP, baconandbeerclassic.com

‘Liquid Dreams are made of yeast’
Marz Brewing invites you to make a jaunt to Bridgeport for the taproom’s Liquid Dreams 2019 Festival, which brings together a host of Marz’s favorite food and drink. Both rare and regular tappings will be available from the likes of Half Acre, Three Floyds, Noon Whistle and more. The food lineup ain’t too shabby either, including Mom’s, Pretty Cool Ice Cream, Kimski, Bumbu Roux and Dark Matter Coffee. Drink up those dreams. Noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Marz Community Brewing, 3630 S. Iron St., Free admission, food and drink tokens $4 each or $40 for festival package at marzbrewing.bigcartel.com.
‘It’s Oktoberfestiversary, Charlie Brown!’
Ravenswood’s brewery neighbors — Dovetail Brewery and Begyle Brewing — will get together again for the fourth annual Oktoberfestiversary. This fun take on Oktoberfest gets a little traditional, but there will also be plenty of non-Oktoberfest-style special tappings and plenty to do that doesn’t involve sauerkraut: eats from local food trucks, live music, skee ball, a kids’ area and on-demand t-shirts from Luckyprints. Proceeds benefit Friendship Center food pantries. Noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 1800 W. Cuyler Ave., $5 donation requested; facebook.com/events
