Former Chicago Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd took a $40,000 loss on his four-bedroom house in Vernon Hills, selling it Dec. 11 for $610,000.
A first-round draft pick in 2016, Floyd was a mainstay for the Bears from 2016 through 2019, but never progressed to become an elite pass rusher. The team released him in March, and he currently plays for the Los Angeles Rams.
In Vernon Hills, Floyd paid $650,000 in April 2019 for the 3,666-square-foot house, which adjoins the golf course in the Gregg’s Landing area of the north suburb. Built in 1999, the two-story house has a two-story foyer, a dramatic staircase and an open floor plan.
The kitchen is outfitted with custom cabinetry, a large granite island with a prep sink and counter seating, and stainless steel appliances. The primary bedroom suite has vaulted ceilings, double sinks, a Jacuzzi tub and two walk-in closets.
Other features include a family room with golf course views and a brick surround fireplace; a first-floor den; a back staircase; and a finished basement with a game room.
Floyd first listed the house in September for $650,000. He cut his asking price to $620,000 in November before finding a buyer.
Listing agent Joanne Marzano declined to comment on the sale. Public records do not yet identify the buyer. The house had a $18,114 tax bill in the 2019 tax year.
During his time with the Bears, Floyd clearly liked Vernon Hills. He previously owned a four-bedroom, 2,896-square-foot house about two blocks away, which he bought in 2018 for $452,500. In January 2020, he sold it for $545,000 to teammate Cody Whitehair.
