A 12-year-old boy who was killed Saturday in South Chicago was identified Sunday — the same day his mother, charged with first-degree murder, appeared in bond court on suspicion of fatally shooting him, according to Chicago police.
Kaden Ingram, 12, who lived in the 8000 block of South Bennett Avenue — the same block where investigators said he was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the head around 10:30 a.m. Saturday — was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m. at University of Chicago Medical Center. Information about his identity was released Sunday by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide caused by the gunshot wounds.
Authorities said a woman was present when the boy was “discovered unresponsive by a witness,” and she was arrested.
Fallon Harris, 37, who also lived on the same block where the shooting occurred, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to police.
Harris appeared before Judge Mary Marubio for a bond hearing Sunday, in which prosecutors confirmed that Ingram, identified in court only by his initials, was Harris’ son. She was ordered held without bail and is due back in court Monday.
