Courtney B. Vance, Elizabeth Debicki and Aunjanue Ellis have joined the cast of HBO’s “Lovecraft Country,” which is slated to begin filming in Chicago in mid-July.

Second City alum Jordan Peele and “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams serve as executive producers of the series, which is based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name. Jonathan Majors (“Hostiles”) plays Atticus Black, who embarks on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America with his friend Letitia (“Underground” alum Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Vance).

Debicki filmed the upcoming “Widows” thriller last year in Chicago. Vance won an Emmy in 2016 for his role on FX’s “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.” Ellis was a regular on “Quantico.”
