Jada Pinkett Smith said she had a relationship with singer August Alsina while she was separated from her husband, Will Smith, in a digital talk show episode published Friday.
Pinkett Smith confirmed the rumored relationship as she spoke with her husband on the Facebook show Red Table Talk.

“You and I were going through a very difficult time,” Pinkett Smith said as Smith nodded and agreed.
Both said they had separated at the time. Pinkett Smith said the relationship with Alsina started as a frienship about four years ago.
“As time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August,” Pinkett Smith, 48, said.
She underlined that Alsina, 27, is not a homewrecker.
“In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can’t find happiness outside yourself,” Pinkett Smith told her husband. “You and I were also going through a process of healing in a much different manner. I would definitely say that we did everything that we could to get away from each other — only to realize that that wasn’t possible.”
Pinkett Smith and Smith, 51, have been married since 1997 and have two children. They shared a high-five at the end of the video.
Alsina’s third studio album, “The Product III: State of Emergency,” was released last month.
