Movies in the park are a Chicago summer tradition — we have fond memories back in the day of watching the old “West Side Story” in Grant Park on a projection screen. Now movies are shown on a 40-foot LED display at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, with up-to-date titles like “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
This summer’s series, presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, kicks off in July and runs through the recent Academy Award winner “Everything Everywhere All at Once” at the end of August. All movies play Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (Gates open at 5 p.m., free admission, with entrances at Randolph Street and Monroe Street, more information at chicago.gov).
July 11: “Fast Five” (2011, 130 minutes, PG-13): Set in Rio de Janeiro as part of the “Fast & Furious” cycle.
