The Barn, the latest Evanston restaurant from Found Kitchen & Social House owner Amy Morton, opens to the public Tuesday.

It’s a bit of a semi-soft opening for The Barn, in that the restaurant will accept limited reservations (available online at www.thebarnrestaurant.com) as the kitchen and service find their respective rhythms.

Found executive chef Nicole Pederson and general manager Stefen Bosworth will oversee The Barn’s kitchen and front of house, respectively. The focus of the menu will be meat, and Morton has called the spot “old-school” in that the menu will change only twice a year, there will be traditional appetizers, entrees and desserts rather than “bites” or “shareables,” and some dishes will be prepared or plated tableside.

The Barn gets its name from its location, a 19th-century brick structure that once served as a horse barn. The restaurant’s entrance is in an alley, which gives the space a bit of a yesteryear vibe.

The restaurant is partly an homage to Morton’s late father, legendary restaurateur Arnie Morton, whose first restaurant, long before Arnie’s and Morton’s Steakhouse, was Walton Walk, which also featured an alley entrance.
