Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will permanently close its Chicago location tonight, in a surprise move that was just announced.
“Yes, we can confirm we are closing with the end of tonight’s service at 10 p.m.,” wrote Dinosaur director of marketing Holly Pesahovsky in an email.
The Syracuse-based restaurant chain opened in a nearly 13,000-square-foot space at 923 W. Weed St. in Lincoln Park in April 2015 to good, though some mixed, reviews in Chicagoland’s increasingly competitive barbecue landscape.
Pitmaster and founder John Stage and CEO Rene de la Garrigue said in a joint statement, “We want to thank everyone who has joined us at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Chicago over the past year. While we will be closing our outpost in Chicago this July, our team remains fully committed to serving our bar-b-que to all our loyal fans at our other nine locations throughout the Northeast.”
When asked for further details, Pesahovsky wrote, “At this time we don’t have anything further to comment on the closing.”
The closure was first reported by Eater Chicago.
