President Donald Trump on Thursday approved a major federal disaster declaration for the state of Illinois, which provides additional governmental assistance in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump’s action came a day after Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth sent a letter in support of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s request for a major federal disaster declaration.
In his announcement, Trump said his action made federal funding available for crisis counseling for affected individuals in all areas in the state of Illinois.
