At Garfield Park Conservatory, Oct. 25, 2015, visitors are treated to an art installation titled Solarise, created by Luftwerk, the brain child of Chicago artists Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero. The installation will be up for a year.
Don't let the family fun skid out on bad weather. Drivers big and little can beat theme-park lines and take the wheel in this warehouse turned race course. Junior drivers must be 48 inches tall, and adult racers operate on a second track. Watch the action, and check lap times with a pit stop on the second level bar and restaurant. Air quality is just fine with all-electric go-karts. Open daily, hours and pricing vary at two suburban locations, 2381 W. Army Trail Road, Addison, and 301 Hasting Drive, Buffalo Grove. www.k1speed.com
