More people are coming for help because legislation passed last year now requires people to work at least 80 hours a month to qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

District 60 is one of four Lake County districts learning they received Teacher Vacancy Grants on Sept. 1 in Springfield, making them among 100 statewide.

Burleson took his oath of office as the city’s newest fire chief Monday at City Hall immediately after the Waukegan City Council unanimously approved his appointment.
