The 2013 Traverse, which can seat seven or eight, retains its earlier strengths ¿ key among them its generous size. "Car-based" SUVs hit the scene several years ago promising most of the good aspects of truck-based SUVs without the drawbacks -- namely unnecessary size, weight and thirst for petroleum. As much as any crossover, and probably more, the Traverse delivers on this promise, offering more interior space than a Chevy Tahoe from similar exterior dimensions. It's not as tall and is easier to get into, and its mileage, though not stellar in its class, beats the Tahoe by 2 mpg in combined driving.

The SRX features 36.3 inches of backseat legroom, just slightly less than the Lexus RX and the BMW X3, both of which have 36.8 inches of legroom. The Audi Q5 has 37.4 inches. While sliding rear seats aren't common in this category (oddly enough, they're more common in lower-cost crossovers like the Chevrolet Equinox), Cadillac should have taken the initiative to put them in. I kept reaching down to try to slide the seats back and give the kids some much-needed legroom.

The Juke has a busy design to begin with and the additional NISMO cues give the crossover a scattershot look. A vehicle bearing the Nismo name deserves more than a 9-horsepower bump in engine output, too. I'm underwhelmed.
While it handled the circuit well, it was the open road where the XT felt really quick. Subaru says the zero-to-60 time is in the low 6-second range, which is about the same as a base Porsche Cayenne.

Yeah, I'm not feeling this one. I can see the BMW 3 Series in the Q50's proportions, but this looks a bit overstyled for me, especially aft of the front doors. That Infiniti family C-pillar squiggle looks awkward, and the taillights look as if they've been pasted on. The interior doesn't look all that different to me, and in fact looks like something that could easily have a Hyundai badge.

The glove box can be a useful treasure chest in cars, housing everything from important papers and receipts to tire gauges and extra fuses. It's a safe, easy-to-access place for crucial items, and almost every car has one.
