Several individuals have been charged and drugs and a number of firearms were recovered this week in separate investigations, according to the Aurora Police Department.
On Monday, Aurora Police Special Operations Group investigators conducted traffic stops on two separate vehicles, resulting in the arrests of two people and the recovery of two firearms, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.
The first stop occurred at around 5:51 p.m. in the area of Marshall Avenue and Highland Avenue, during which investigators said they found an unloaded HK P30 9mm handgun and a bag containing 37 rounds of 9mm ammunition during a search of the vehicle, per the police department news release. Police determined that the handgun had been reported stolen out of Houston.
As a result of the stop, Efren Romero, 23, of Aurora, was taken into custody, the news release said, saying that Romero did not possess a valid firearm owners identification card or concealed carry license.
Romero has since been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, multiple counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, driving while license revoked for a second offense/revocation for DUI and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, according to the police department. He was also cited for disobeying a stop sign.
Romero remains in custody at the Kane County jail, the news release said, and he is next set to appear in court on Sept. 30.
Then, at around 7:45 p.m. Monday, investigators conducted a second traffic stop in the area of Route 30 and Douglas Road after observing a traffic violation, the police department said. During that stop, investigators said they found Victor Rodriguez, 18, of Centralia, armed with a Glock 19X 9mm handgun with an extended magazine in his waistband, according to the release.

The handgun was loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition, police said.
Rodriguez was taken into custody and has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a street gang member and several other unlawful use of a weapon charges, the news release indicated.
He remains in custody at the Kane County jail, the release said, and is next set to appear in court on Oct. 1.
The driver of the vehicle Rodriguez was in was cited for failure to signal and released.
Then, at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, as part of a separate investigation, investigators — with assistance from the department’s Community Oriented Policing Unit, K9 officers and Drone Unit — executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of South Elmwood Drive, the news release said.
Investigators said they found roughly 1,596 grams of suspected cocaine, 205 suspected Adderall pills, 15 suspected ecstasy pills, a Glock 19 9mm handgun loaded with 12 rounds, a Ruger .22-caliber rifle, about 450 rounds of ammunition, two digital scales, a vacuum sealer, drug packaging materials and $2,066 in cash, per the police department.
Following the execution of the search warrant, Alvaro Robledo, 34, of Aurora, and Olivia Gonzales, 33, of Aurora, were taken into custody without incident, the news release said.
Robledo has since been charged with armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and a number of unlawful possession of a controlled substance charges, the release indicated.
Gonzales, meanwhile, faces several unlawful possession of a controlled substance charges, per the department.
Robledo remains in custody at the Kane County jail, the police department said. He is next set to appear in court on Oct. 1, according to Kane County circuit court records. Gonzales was released following her detention hearing and is next set to appear in court on Oct. 29.
