According to the news release, officers first responded to an incident reported at Robert Crown Sept. 5, where police were told Wilson approached a juvenile the day before to offer them “candy and cannabis.”
After a parent confronted him about the behavior, Robert Crown staff members removed Wilson from the facility. A photograph was provided to Evanston police to help investigators identify the man, the news release said.
Officers responded to Robert Crown Sept. 10 after the suspect returned, making contact with him and advising him that he was not permitted on the property, per police.
Wilson returned Sept. 16, but left before officers arrived, the news release said.
Footage from the facility showed the suspect “entering the building, sitting near a juvenile and beginning a conversation,” Cmdr. Chelsea Brown said, before another juvenile later joined them.
After staffers approached the man, he and the juveniles “left the area together,” Brown said.
On Sept. 17, police again responded to the site in regards to complaints about Wilson, locating him inside the building and taking him into custody at approximately 10:48 a.m.
Wilson was expected to appear before a judge Sept. 18 at the Skokie Courthouse for a preliminary bond hearing, according to the news release.
Brown said that “no injuries to any juveniles have been reported” and Evanston police have increased their presence near the Robert Crown Community Center and surrounding schools.
