The St. Charles Public Library, in partnership with workNet Batavia, will host the third annual Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, at the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. in St. Charles.

The event is a chance for participants to connect with more than 20 local employers hiring for a wide range of positions, event organizers said in a press release.

Organizations participating in the event include Advanced Nursing Care, AutonomyWorks, Batavia Container Inc., BMO, Chicago Mold Engineering, Clarios, Dickey Manufacturing, Edustaff/CUSD 300, Elgin Community College, FVSRA, Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, Goodwill Lombard, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Tollway, LyondellBasell, Marklund, Pace Suburban Bus, Randstad, St. Charles Park District, St. Charles Public Library District, St. Charles School District CUSD 303, U.S. Army Recruiting and Von Maur.

Stargazing set at Creek Bend Nature Center

The Fox Valley Astronomical Society will present an astronomy program called “What’s Up Tonight?” from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Creek Bend Nature Center, 37W700 Dean St. in St. Charles.

After a short talk about what can be seen in the night sky, weather permitting, attendees will take a look for themselves through multiple telescopes, according to a social media post.

Food pantry event scheduled in Plano

Those in need can pick up a box of canned goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meat, bread, milk, eggs and more at the Plano Food Pantry from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, pantry officials said in a press release.

All in need are welcome to visit the pantry site at First Lutheran Church, 200 N. Center St. in Plano, officials said.

Those looking to pick up food should bring their food pantry card, if they have one. Those who don’t have a card should bring identification and one will be issued in a couple of minutes, according to the release.

Kane Forest District to hold fall program for kids

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County’s “Little Saplings” series invites children ages 3 to 5 years old and their caregivers to discover the wonders of the natural world this fall, district officials said.

Each month, children will explore a new seasonal theme through stories, nature hikes, songs, games and crafts during the program. A parent or caregiver must accompany each child, according to a press release from the district.

All fall programs will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center, 37W700 Dean St. in St. Charles.

The “Slugs & Bugs” program is set for Sept 17, “Spider Senses” will run on Oct. 15 and “Oh Deer” is planned for Nov. 19, officials said.
