Blue Island

THEFT ATTEMPT: The passenger side window of a Kia sedan was discovered smashed and the steering column stripped early Sept. 2 in the 12000 block of Ann Street, police said.

Burbank

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Rakim Y. Martinez, 7700 block of Lavergne Avenue, Burbank, was arrested Aug. 8 in that block and subsequently charged with one count of aggravated battery/strangulation and one count of aggravated domestic battery/strangulation, police said.

GAMBLING BURGLARY: Several people smashed a window at the West 79th Sports Bar, 7107 W. 79th St., early Aug. 10 and entered, damaging five video slot machines and removing one cash box before exiting, police said.

Chicago Ridge

GUN POSSESSION: Damian Borkowski, 26, Hickory Hills, was arrested Sept. 4 and subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon after an officer found him sleeping on the grass in the 10200 block of Harlem Avenue, observed a gun in his waistband and determined he was a felon, police said.

Crete

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Evan Dean Selvig, 34, 700 block of Jefferson Street, Crete, was arraigned Aug. 31 in Will County court, charged with aggravated battery/victim 60+ on Aug. 7, according to court records online. Officers arrested Selvig Aug. 17 in the 3500 block of Ronald Road, police said.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Officers arrested Avery W. Bohannon, 28, Cortez C. Smith, 27, Victor E. Short, 32, and Darius C. Toran, 28, all of Chicago Sept. 1 and accused them of attempted burglary at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course and resisting/obstructing, police said. Area law enforcement arrested two at the course and Park Forest police and Will County sheriff’s deputies employed drones and K9 units during the two-hour search for the two others, police said.

Evergreen Park

DEALING CHARGED: A Chicago man driving a car Aug. 20 that had been used to flee law enforcement in Hometown and Oak Lawn had nearly 3 ounces of marijuana in the vehicle in nine individual bags, police said. Lamont A. Traylor Epting, 20, charged with manufacturing-delivering more than 30 grams of cannabis, was arrested in line outside a restaurant in the 9200 block of Western Avenue, police said.

IDENTITY THEFT: A resident reported Aug. 21 that a student at a private college in Missouri used the resident’s identity to obtain two direct student loans totaling $7,360, police said. The resident learned of the identity theft after an online personal finance platform emailed her a reminder about the second loan, police said.

Frankfort

DEALING CHARGED: Devante J. Betts, 23, 400 block of 164th Street, Calumet City, was arrested Aug. 21 and subsequently charged with manufacture/delivery of more than 500 grams of cannabis cannabis after officers recovered 1 pound of marijuana in a sealed bag, 30 grams of marijuana in a backpack, a scale and 75 empty small plastic bags during a crash investigation at LaGrange Road and Lincoln Highway, police said.

Lansing

SLOTS BURGLARY: Three people smashed through the glass front door of El Mariachi II, 18331 Torrence Ave., early Sept. 1, damaged the five video slot machines and took five bottles of tequila, police said.

Mokena

FRAUDULENT ID: Pedro Zapata-Barraza, 24, Hammond, Indiana, was arraigned in Will County court Aug. 31, charged with two counts of possessing a fraudulent identification card, according to court records online. Officers arrested Zapata-Barraza Nov. 22 during a stop in the 8500 block of 91st Street after recovering a counterfeit USA permanent resident card with an alias and a Social Security card with the alias, police said.

New Lenox

DUI CRASH: Paul T. Jagust Jr., 33, 300 block of MacGregor Road, Lockport, was scheduled to appear in Will County court Sept. 8, charged with two counts of aggravated drunken driving/crash/causing bodily harm, according to court records online. The charge stems from Jagust receiving a head injury during a June 23 two-vehicle collision at Illinois Route 6 and Cedar Road, police said.

SLOTS BURGLARY: Four individuals used sledge hammers early Sept. 3 to smash through a glass door at Tru Country Bar & Grill, 222 W. Maple St., damage four video slot machines and remove the cash boxes, police said. A witness told police a male in a car outside the closed business appeared to act as lookout.

Oak Lawn

FELONY THEFT: Alexis T. Gilmer was arrested July 13 and subsequently charged with felony theft in connection with the May 16 disappearance of a diamond engagement ring valued at $3,799 from a nurses station at Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to a police report released Aug. 18.

Orland Park

GUN POSSESSION: Keyandre D. White, 19, Kankakee, was arrested July 25 and subsequently charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle after officers recovered a 9 mm pistol with a loaded magazine during a stop in the 9500 block of 151st Street and determined he lacked a gun permit, police said.

ASSAULT: Corwin E. Ellis, 46, 100 block of Craig Drive, Chicago Heights, was arrested July 28 and accused of assault after threatening to kill an employee at a fast-casual Mexican restaurant in the 15000 block of LaGrange Road, police said.

Palos Heights

AGGRAVATED SPEEDING: Nicole Hill, 30, Bolingbrook, is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Bridgeview Oct. 1, charged with aggravated speeding/35+ mph, drunken driving, illegally transporting alcohol and driving without proof of insurance, police said. Hill was arrested Aug. 26 in the 13100 block of Ridgeland Avenue after an officer clocked her driving 86 mph in a 40 mph zone, police said.

Palos Hills

SLOTS BURGLARY: Entryway glass was shattered early Aug. 27 and an unknown amount of cash taken from two damaged video slot machines in the second break-in in four months at Darla’s Gaming Cafe, 10612 Roberts Road, police said.

Park Forest

FALSE REPORT: Dejonae M. Jones, 26, 19400 block of Glenwood Road, Chicago Heights, was charged with felony disorderly conduct, according to a Sept. 2 police news release. Jones called police on Aug. 5, reporting she was being held hostage in a domestic situation in the 200 block of Allegheny Street although she was not inside the home, police said.
