An alleged attempted robbery at a Morton Grove hotel by two men Saturday night led to attempted murder and attempted robbery charges, police say.

According to a news release, police responded around 12:18 p.m. to a report of gunshots fired at The Red Roof Inn, 9424 Waukegan Road. When officers arrived, they determined no one had been injured.
The preliminary investigation found that two unidentified Hispanic male suspects allegedly forced their way into a victim’s hotel room. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money from the occupants, according to the release.
Information about the suspects and their vehicle was promptly shared with regional law enforcement partners, the release said. Using Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, Illinois State Police units and the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department Helicopter Unit located the offending vehicle in Chicago
Two suspects were apprehended in the 8100 block of Ridgewood following a joint effort from the Illinois State Police, Chicago Police, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department Helicopter Unit, authorities said. The men were identified as Manuel Antonio Pimentel-Rodriguez, of Chicago, and Jorvin J. Gil Duran, of Evanston. Police also recovered a loaded firearm from the suspects’ vehicle during the arrest.
According to the release, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:
Manuel Antonio Pimentel-Rodriguez was charged with attempted murder, home invasion, armed robbery, and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abus. Jorvin J. Gil Duran was charged with home invasion and armed robbery.
