An Aurora apartment building was deemed uninhabitable after a Thursday morning fire, Aurora Fire Department officials said.
Aurora dispatch received a 911 call around 2:50 a.m. reporting smoke coming from a bedroom of a two-unit, split-level apartment building in the 900 block of Spruce Street, officials said in a news release.
Aurora police arrived first on the scene and forced entry into a locked bedroom in search of a resident who possibly may have been in there, but retreated due to heat and smoke. No one was found in the room.
Officers were treated and released at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
There were no other injuries to residents or firefighters. The residents displaced are staying with family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Aurora Fire Department officials said in the release.
